Commissioning Sunday!

The Free Online Dictionary sites of commissioning, "The act of granting certain powers or the authority to carry out a particular task or duty".  We see this type of activity take place in a number of places in scripture. In Genesis, Pharaoh appointed commissioners to gather a fifth of the harvest in order to protect the land from a coming famine.  In Numbers we see Joshua be commissioned to take over the leadership of the Israelite's from Moses.  In Isaiah we read about his commissioning. And, in Matthew, we read about the "Great Commission".

With Pastor Monica's prayer (as well as all in the SHBC congregation who prayed with her this day), as a team we have been charged with the task of taking the Gospel of Jesus to Bluefields, Nicaragua.   We will work alongside of the people, in support of the local church and school.  As far as we understand it right now, it appears as though we will be adding the roof to the newest addition.  Where a one floor wood building once stood, (three classrooms), will now stand a two floor - six classroom building.

As a team we would like to thank-you for all of your support both financially and through your prayers. I can tell you from experience that we could almost feel your prayers for the team on previous projects.  In these final days before we depart, please pray for safety during travel and that all the packing of the various items that we will be taking with us will fit into the allotted bags.  It wouldn't hurt to pray that they weigh light on the airlines scales!

(for the Nic Team)
